Eyes Down for a Full House!

The Larchfield Learn to Lead team had the idea of raising funds to buy some monogrammed hoodies that they could wear when representing Larchfield at Regional Forums and at Family Days but how could they achieve this? Stephen McGechan, Glenn Havelock and Amanda Long came up with a Bingo, Pie and Peas night which would be a fun way of getting people together as well as raising money for the hoodies. First step was a poster ably designed by Stephen.

Lee makes the move to Larchfield

Lee Farnaby first came to Larchfield as a Day Placement in 2014. He had previously attended Upsall Hall at Swan's Corner but when that closed down he was one of the first to transfer to Larchfield. Fast forward now to Monday, 5th February 2017 when Lee achieved his dream of coming to live in Leven House.

New biomass boiler for Larchfield

As our knowledge of the dangers of global warming and carbon emissions grows there is increased interest in trying to use energy sources that are both renewable and sustainable. At Larchfield we already have a biomass boiler that fuels the Guild building, it runs on wooden pellets made from recycled wood or wood from a renewable source. The boiler has very low emissions and the amount of ash it produces each year would fit into a dustbin.

Meet Aidan Boland, Day Placement

Aidan Boland has been coming to Larchfield as a day placement for about eighteen months now. He is here on Mondays and Fridays working in four workshops - the cafe, farm, bakery and craft. Aidan especially likes working in the bakery and the cafe as he enjoys preparing food and being with other people. Away from Larchfield Aidan has some very interesting hobbies.
