Accommodation and support

We are fortunate enough to own a number of properties. Most of our properties are one bedroomed self-contained flats or bedsits. We have a few two bedroomed flats and a couple of houses where people we support choose to live together. The age and style of our properties varies from some built 50 0r 60 years ago to those we have built within the last 12 months.

If we need require additional accommodation, we also rent some flats from private landlords. Most of the properties we own or rent are within a 15 minute walk from the office.

It should also be noted that we also provide support to those who are not housed in our accommodation. They may be in their own property, living with friends or family or in council accommodation.

The rent etc for the accommodation is normally funded by Housing Benefit if the claimant is eligible and everyone who lives in the community will have tenancy agreement and a front door key. Whilst they remain our tenant the property they rent is theirs. We will not enter a property without permission of the tenant.

We have on occasion successfully helped individuals move on from our accommodation into their own properties and due to the progress they have made, no longer had to support them; for us this is a success. We are of the opinion that there is no one who cannot live in the community if they have the appropriate level of support.
