St Albans is a bustling and vibrant city close to London. It offers the people we support the opportunity to be part of a wider community that offers many leisure activities, it is rich in history too with roman remains and medieval architecture.
St Albans has good transport links via trains and bus routes, this enables the people we support here to work on their independence skills with travel to see family, friends and explore other areas of interest.
Although St Albans is a city, it is surrounded by countryside. Verulamium park, an 100 acre park is situated close by to the city centre for people to enjoy the countryside on their doorstep.
Within the city centre is a vast assortment of shops with many independent retailers too. There are regular markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, also a popular farmers market that runs on the second Sunday of each month which can give the opportunity to shop for fresh local produce.
There is a local college, Oaklands. It offers the opportunity for learning to suit a broad range of needs with a variety of courses available.
Camphill St Albans currently supports over 30 people within a supported living environment. The community has grown steadily within the last few years, this will continue into the future also.
People supported here access a wide variety of activities within the local community; judo classes, Zumba, gym sessions, swimming, football, Slimming World, chess club to name a few.
There is also a wide variety of activities organised within the Camphill St Albans community, a lot of activities are focused around the new community hall, Michaelmas Hall.
