We have animals and grow and sell vegetables, fruit, flowers and firewood to the community and to local outlets. We follow biodynamic principals to produce quality food without chemicals and artificial fertilisers.
On site there is a converted Victorian mansion which houses a library, games room, meeting room, hall and coffee bar. The people we support at Oaklands Park have access to a Learning to Lead hub with computers, sofa’s, flat screen telly and coffee bar facilities. We have the newly named “Lighthouse”- (the old Chapel) which provides a great venue for community events as well as quiet spiritual reflection. Oaklands Park hosts busy local businesses on site which include a florist, cider maker, and the Dean Forest Food Hub. In the nearby village of Newnham-on-Severn, Oaklands Park also manages a café and art gallery – The George Cafe which provides workshop activities for people we support.
In 2014 Oaklands Park took on the management and support of the old Taurus Crafts support services. The new name for these services is Lydney Community Support. This managed accommodation in Lydney includes two community houses, town houses and purpose built flats for those with greater independence with support always close at hand. Most of our housing is close to Lydney town centre. Many of the people we support work and volunteer at CVT’s Taurus Craft and Visitors centre nearby.
