Almost two hundred residents and staff of three Camphill Village Trust (CVT) communities enjoyed a night to remember at the first CVT Ball in the luxurious setting of Gisborough Hall. Staff and residents scrubbed up for the big night out and a red carpet fit for the Hollywood Oscars welcomed the sharply dressed men and elegant ladies.
Entertainment by local chanteuse Beth Coates followed a formal dinner and then guests took to the floor to tunes provided by DJ Simon Ereira. Other attractions included a Candy Cart and a fancy dress photo booth delivering instant snaps.
Amanda Walker, HR Partner for the North East CVT communities and one of the organisers thanked the many people who had made contributions including flowers, suits and Ball gowns to make the event possible.
“Residents from the Croft, Larchfield and Botton said they wanted to have a Ball to celebrate their lives together”, she said “and Its been a real privilege to be part of the preparations and then see people enjoying themselves so much”.
Residents Mark, Jane and Steph helped choose the venue and select the entertainment.Mark said the Ball had been a great success:
“I did a speech about it. “Welcome to everyone from all three communities, Botton, The Croft and Larchfield. We had chicken with vegetables and potato, followed by a baked vanilla cheesecake”.
CVT Chief Executive Huw John who attended said the Ball was a great opportunity for everyone to meet old friends and make new ones.
Evidence how much guests enjoyed themselves was provided by the one chorus that echoed long after the last song had been sung and the dance floor emptied. It was “Let's do it again next year”
