21st November 2016 by Larchfield Community
A theme was needed for the tree and a fair bit of brainstorming later the beautiful surroundings of Larchfield inspired the idea of an 'Enchanted Garden'.
The craft workshops were soon a hive of activity; felted gnomes, elves, mice and fairies were made using wet and dry felting techniques while magical unicorns were formed from air drying clay. Teasles turned into hedgehogs, old wood was transformed into fairy doors and glass fusion techniques created stars and icicles. Pom poms were re-imagined as owls and squirrels and the Larchfield Knit and Natter Group set their nimble fingers going to make ladybirds, toadstools and bees.
All the wondrous decorations were displayed on a living tree in the Larchfield gardens as the perfect way to show how the community spirit had worked together to make the 'Enchanted Garden'. The closing date for the competition was the 21st of October and while we have heard that we didn't make it through to the television shows we are proud of our achievement and just know that the decorations will find happy homes now they are on sale in the Larchfield shop.
