Once the greenery has been gathered wreath making is generally an 'indoor' job either in the greenhouse adjacent to the barn or in the tea-room where a welcome warmth comes from the wood burning stove.
There were 34 orders for wreaths this year with a further 10 being sold in the shop, the busiest year yet.
Even though we are just into the new year the garden team are already looking ahead to Christmas 2017 and have been busy making new wreath bases totally from recycled materials - prunings from the trees and bushes have been bent into circular shapes and secured with old bits of string and then the shape is padded out with newspaper. The bases will be stored safely until the end of November when the team will start the careful process of adding more padding with straw and then weaving in the greenery and decorations.
