Gathering Together for St John's Day

Gathering Together for St John's Day

During the week Matthew had worked hard gathering wood from across the Larchfield site and delivering it to the games field. On the morning of the 23rd the farm workshop set about building a very elegant bonfire.

At twelve noon everyone gathered on the field and Jonathan nearly missed the fire, having worn himself out helping to build the bonfire! Once the flames had taken hold Stephen told us about the St John's celebration and then read a poem about fire.

After a somewhat out of tune but cheerful rendition of 'You are my sunshine', we admired the blaze and returned to the hall for a community lunch of egg mayonnaise and cheese buns washed down with blackcurrant and apple cordial made from last year's fruit harvest. Many thanks to the farm and food production teams for their hard work.
