Penguins Galore for Chernobyl Visitors

Penguins Galore for Chernobyl Visitors

In 1986 a catastrophic nuclear accident happened at a power station near the city of Chernobyl in the Ukraine and as a consequence residents of the area are still at risk of developing serious health problems. Since the disaster groups of children from Chernobyl have visited Middlesbrough every year to get fresh air and to stay with volunteers and their families.

10 girls and 8 boys will be visiting this summer and they are each given 'goody bags' - the knitted hats mentioned previously being one of the items. The members of the Craft Workshop decided they would like to add to the bags and after a brainstorming session came up with the idea of chocolate Penguin biscuits decorated as penguins!

James soon got down to work and we hope you agree that they look fabulous!
