Prize Bingo Night Fun with a Lasting Outcome

Prize Bingo Night Fun with a Lasting Outcome

Having sent out letters asking for donations of prizes and eggs the team also booked the hall, sent letters and posters to advertise the event and ordered the pies and peas from Val.

On the night of the Prize Bingo the Learn to Lead team still had plenty to do; they greeted guests at the door, gave out the bingo tickets, handed out the raffle prizes and helped serve the teas and coffees as well as winning a few lines of Bingo themselves! The evening was well attended and it was lovely to see the hall so full with family, friends and a few of our regular café customers.

Extra excitement was added to the evening by having a 'reverse raffle' for the Easter Eggs, this meant that all the smaller eggs were distributed first then the bigger eggs - building up in size until the major prize of the large hamper was won by Aadam and his family.

So, what was the plan that would deliver a lasting outcome from the evening? The Learn to Lead team had identified that the old wooden trestle tables, used nearly every day in the hall, were become shabby and dangerous. The team committed to fundraising to replace the tables across the course of the coming year and with a profit from the evening of £277 they could make a start.

It was agreed that strong, plastic folding tables with carrying handles would be ideal and that a variety of sizes would allow for different ways to set up the hall for any future social events. A company was identified and Amir helped to phone in the order for a mix of six and eight foot tables. Delivery was quick and some of the team were on hand to help with the unpacking.

Eight tables were bought in all, five by the Learn to Lead team and three by the Knit and Natter group who meet in the hall every Friday and who also raise funds for Larchfield throughout the year, many thanks to them. The tables are popular with everyone who has used them so far and much easier to move and put up. The team are already hatching some new fundraising plans to purchase more tables and some sporting equipment - watch this space!
