Stephen rides regularly at the local RDA centre - the Unicorn Centre - in Hemlington. Stephen achieved the scores he required to qualify for national level earlier in the year when he competed at the Richmond Riding Centre. The Unicorn Centre was able to take three horses down to the competition and Stephen rode Thunder, his usual horse.
In the build up to the competition Stephen worked hard with the Unicorn Centre staff and a guest trainer to devise a dressage routine to his chosen piece of music which was 'You're In The Army Now' by his favourite band, Status Quo. As you can see from the photographs smart appearance also played an important role on the day.
Stephen has written:
'When my Dad and I went down to Hartpury College we thought what a very big place it is and it was an experience we will never forget. I would like to go down there again because the people were very helpful and happy to tell you where to go, it was a fantastic experience.'
Stephen's results were: a 1st place rosette for the walking freestyle to his chosen music (meaning he is the best in the country in this particular class) and a 4th place rosette for the walking dressage.
Massive congratulations to Stephen for such an amazing achievement, it was particularly nice for him to be able share his memories with his fiancé Debbie who had competed at Hartpury last year.
