The Independence Poem

The Independence Poem

What is this life if full of choice, if you take control we have no voice

We have our dreams but do not dare to speak of them, for who will care

I may be slow and need more time I would like the choice to be mine

Some people don't speak in words you know but please try and let them have a go

They may point or squeeze your hand to try and make you understand

Your plans for me look mighty fine but they are yours, not mine

They might save you a bit of cash but it's my life not yours, to trash

When you decide what's good for me, to take my choice and liberty

Independence is just a word if our voices are never heard

So listen well, let us be clear, it is why we are all gathered here

What is this world if full of choice, if you take control we have no voice
