The first step was to get the cow ready for painting and as the cow's nose and horns were in a poor state Matthew started the rejuvenation process by making any repairs needed to the sculpture with a cement mix.
James, from the Learn to Lead team, spent an afternoon painting the cow with it's first coat of white and had lots of people popping out to see what was happening. Once the white paint was dry Joseph and Laura came along with Martyn's original design in hand to trace out the brown markings and then, over a few days, they completed the make-over of the Larchfield cow.
Our new look cow has had many favourable comments and was at the centre of a recent group photograph to celebrate Larchfield's 30 years as a Camphill Community. Many thanks to Matthew, James, Joseph, Eddi, Laura and Donald for their hard work and congratulations to the Learn to Lead team for highlighting an area of the community where action was needed and then following it through in such a democratic way.
