Regional Forum at Taurus Crafts

Taurus Crafts hosted the South West regional forum and were joined by fellow community members from Berith & Camphill Partnership, Grange Village, Oaklands Park & Lydney Community Support. With over 50 community members in attendance and led by the People We Support, Kathryn, Debbie and Wendy the day was packed with creative workshops, local food and discussions.

“Today was a great success for all involved especially the People we Support, who have spent lots of time preparing; making biscuits, creating activities, and preparing tours to show their neighbouring communities the visitor centre they are proud to be a part of” – Kathryn, Support and Finance Coordinator

The forum included a tour of Taurus Crafts 13 onsite artisan businesses, café and gift shop led and organised by Jenny & Brian. Alongside the tour Cathy, who helps to deliver the popular pottery activities, ran a workshop to paint Christmas baubles. Each person was given a blank ceramic bauble and with the Cathy’s help they were shown how to create some inspired designs on the baubles that they then took back to their communities. Following the success of the 'recycla-baubles' workshops in October local artist Warren was invited back to carry out another 'recycla-baubles' workshop and inspire other community members how everyday used materials can be re-used to create imaginative decorations.

“it gives me great pride to be able to give a tour of our site and show community members everything that we have here on site and the highlight of the tour was showing everyone our Can Do Shop, which features products made by community members.” – Brian

We were proud to have hosted the regional forum as this provides an opportunity for all of the South West communities to come together share ideas and celebrate all of our achievements.
